How do I check out a physical book from the LRC during non-staffed hours?

If you would like to check out a physical book from the LRC's circulation collection of books, and LRC staff are unavailable to process the checkout for you, please email us.
Send an email to LRC.SERVICES@usuhs.edu with:
- Your name
- The barcode of each book you are taking
- The title of each book you are taking
May I still check out physical books during non-staffed hours?
Yes! You may check out books from the circulating collection. Just email us.
Where do I find the barcode of a book?
Each book's barcode is affixed to the inside of the book, usually on the first page or inside the front cover. Barcodes have the format:
31306xxxxxxxxx
What is the circulating collection?
The LRC's circulation collection of physical books consists of the General and History books and are located on the 2nd floor of the LRC. These books may be checked out and taken home for use and then returned to the LRC on a later date.
Books shelved on the 1st floor of the LRC are non-circulating. These may be used inside the LRC but may not be checked out or taken home.
- If you use any physical book in the LRC and do not check it out, please leave it at the LRC Circulation Desk on your way out.
Why would LRC staff be unavailable?
The LRC is normally staffed Mondays through Fridays, 0800-1600. However, certain events may cause the LRC to be unstaffed, including:
- Federal holidays
- Inclement weather (determined by OPM)
- Federal government shutdown and furlough
